The Busan SUP Open 2024 is approaching fast!
The 2024 Busan SUP Open will be significant in more ways than one, as it marks a major new moment for the sport, while once again welcoming the World's very best Racers on the APP World Tour to the beautiful Gwangalli Beach once again for one of the most memorable stops on the Tour for its 3rd consecutive year.
From the 4th - 6th October, Busan will open its doors to athletes from all over the world, while also providing a fitting finale to a successful 2024 season for the KAPP in South Korea. As KAPP continues to grow the sport in the region, they provide a unique welcome and an unforgettable experience for all who visit, whether top professional athlete or casual enthusiast, the Busan SUP open delivers on every level.
In 2024, it will have even more significance however, as after a quiet, transition year for the APP World Tour, the APP will not only celebrate its 2023 World Champions in Busan, but crown new Busan Champions at the 2024 edition and formally release the details and line up for the refreshed new 2025 season that will start back home in Hawaii at the iconic Sunset Beach. There will be some major and exciting changes to the Tour, from race formats and media experience to support structure for established and aspiring athletes. The APP is focused on securing a bright new future for the sport and will elevate all aspects of the event and global media delivery to reach and engage a far broader audience than ever before and provide a sustainable career path to its athletes. More to come on this over the coming months and to be released in Busan in October.
For the event itself, the legacy of the Busan SUP Open speaks for itself: from the historic come from behind victory from Rai Taguchi from Japan in 2022, to the first Championship win for Fernando Perez Serra from Spain in 2023 for the Men, and performances to remember from the likes of Caroline Kuntzel from Denmark in 2022 and Juliette Duhaime with her dominant season in 2023, the event and venue has provided some unforgettable moments for the sport.
We look forward to the most exciting edition yet in 2024, so join us there from the 4th - 6th October as history will once again be made in Gwangalli Beach!
