With Songjeong beach pine trees as a backdrop,
Gangneung set the first step of the 2024 K-SUP Cup on June 8th!
Despite some rain, more than 90 paddlers gathered to participate in this new event to share their passion for SUP and showcase their skills!
Starting in the morning, paddlers joined the Paddle for the Oceans, the campaign aimed at increasing the awareness about the protection of our oceans and environment, in partnership with Port Can Coffee, spent time together on the water and warmed up for the upcoming afternoon race.
In the afternoon, after having battled on the 6km course, it was Daniel Hasulyo and Lim Sujeong that reached the top of the podium in the Elite category, bringing home their 1,300,000 KRW prize money and scoring 10.000 points each.
In the Amateur race, Shin MyeongDdo for the men and Won Juyeon in the women category, showed their technical skills on the 4km course and made it to the first place, collecting the 500,000 prize money attached.
Juniors were not left behind as 45 of them joined the race to demonstrate their dedication and passion for SUP on the 2km course. Such a massive participation is amazing to witness and shows the excitement among the young Korean generation, watch out the rising talents! After a thrilling race, An Seyoung (U18), Choi Min Joon and Moh Heejoo (U16), Han Joel and Kim Raon (U14) claimed the victory in their respective categories.
Congratulations to everyone who decided to join and challenge themselves despite the weather conditions not being ideal. Witnessing the passion and excitement around the event is what makes SUP a vibrant discipline, giving us energy and motivation to continue our mission.
The next stop of the 2024 K-SUP Cup will be set in the beautiful city of Danyang on August 3rd-4th, see you there!
